I'm just now getting a group of Bff's. (best friend forever in case you don't know). ♥♥ I usually felt safe talking to maybe one or two friends, but I guess I'm learning to trust a little more. Open up more.
Last night, I went to an Italian restaurant with them. Six of us girls. We're all over 40, but we still call ourselves girls.
I thought about our fun night and came up with some pluses for making bff's:
♥ Bff's help us learn to laugh at ourselves.
♥ Bff's make it feel safe to tell how we REALLY feel.
♥ Bff's never judge us for our sins.
♥ Bff's are honest. They'll tell us when they get a gut-level feeling we're getting off the right path.
♥ Bff's aren't jealous. They always, always, always want the best for us.
♥ Bff's pray for each other.
♥ Bff's remember each others' birthdays. And it doesn't have to be with a present. Sometimes, for me, the best present is just sitting and talking.
♥ Bff's don't blab private stuff.
♥ Sometimes, our Bff's raise us up, and sometimes we lift them. It's give and take.
"A friend loveth at all times." Proverbs 17:17
Any thoughts on Bff's?

Best friends tell you when you have spinach in your teeth. Best friends believe in you, even when you struggle to believe in yourself. Best friends are with you in the "when bad things happen to good people" part of your life.

Thanks for this post, friend.
BFFs know when (and how) to make you laugh and when to let you cry. They love you even when they see you at your scariest. They don't freak out when you reveal what God had to free you from. BFFs express their love in words and actions. With a BFF you can sit in silence and not feel awkward. They remember your favorite flavors, colors, and comfort foods.
Thanks for the fun post Julie! God has reminded me over the past few months what a great group of friends I have. Anyone who thinks they can get through life without close friends must be pretty miserable.

Thanks, you two. Amazing additions to my best friend list.
It's taken me years to have a group of BFF's. Weird. I've always been soooo close to my husband (still am) but there's something unique that happens between girlfriends.
